Women tend to express resentment rather than reinforcement. Women are repressed enough by society in general, so why do we continue to push one other down? We should be standing together against society, rather than taking each other down.
The only reason the expression “It’s a Man’s World,” can even exist today is because women let it! It’s a problem that will remain to go unsolved unless we begin to recognize the importance of standing together. | In a “Man’s World”: We have to fight for positions in jobs and for attention in other areas of our lives, but at the expense of shooting other women down? Where do we draw the line? How do we control the way we act toward each other when we are taught to fend for ourselves? Do we consider feelings when vying for our future? |
Many of us women refuse to let these questions sink into our minds in fear
that we may lose something that we worked so hard to gain:
POWER
that we may lose something that we worked so hard to gain:
POWER
The power struggle in women is seemingly greater than that in men. We are a gender that is prone to picking out others’ struggles and faults in hopes to advance ourselves.
There are so many rules against femininity and those rules are being set by other women!

“Don’t wear a skirt to a job interview because that’s too feminine and the interviewer might get the wrong impression of you.” Since when did it become wrong to dress to my gender? Since a woman interviewer or boss said so. | “Women cops are the worst! Talk about power struggle.” Why are women cops any different from men? Because women were told they must act tough in a position of power by other women who came before them. |
We are keeping one another from success by giving reasons why it’s not okay to be feminine!
Bullying rather than Building
There are constantly new issues with bullying, girl on girl, within our younger generation. Though the insults are just words, they are harsh and have a lasting affect. Why? Because as women, we learn about respect and sticking together ( Girl Power! ) at a young age, but somewhere along the way we lose that information. |
All of my blog entries so far have included woman shaming/hating. It’s one of the biggest issues that young women face and continue to face with age. I’ve been a victim of woman shaming because of my body, my facial appearance, my interest in pageants, and the friendships I’ve chosen. Bullying and woman shaming happens every second of every day. So when did our respect for ourselves and for our sisters fly out the door?!
A "Mean"ingful Message
I’ll tell you one thing, Mean Girls is not just a great chick flick,
it also has great messages to send to young women.
it also has great messages to send to young women.
“I wish we could all get along like we used to in middle school. I wish I could bake a cake filled with rainbows and smiles and everyone would eat and be happy.”
– Girl that “doesn’t even go here”
As it sounds completely ridiculous because we know that it’s a stretch, this girl is honest and can recall the days when girls were nice to each other and when the biggest of worries was which Barbie you would get to play with that day. She has noticed the cruel changes that came with growing up; the harsh words that we learned and the respect that we lost for each other. Just as we can’t eat cakes filled with rainbows, we also can’t throw the cake in each others’ faces; balance must be found.

“You all have got to stop calling each other sluts and whores. It just makes it ok for guys to call you sluts and whores.”
–Ms. Nordbury
She has a great point! If we can call each other names and disrespect our own sisters, then it gives men the POWER (more power for them, as if they don’t already have enough) to do the same! If we want to be seen as equal to men, then we must act together and rise above our differences because even though we come from different places, different backgrounds, and different walks of life, we’re all in this together!
(High School Musical soundtrack plays now)
But seriously, we have got to start thinking about the way we’re treating one another.
My mom always told me, “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”
So take a step to stand together! We’re WOMEN; we’re ONE!
